2G scam: No JPC probe

New Delhi: The stand-off over the 2G scam continues. The Opposition forced the adjournment of both Houses of Parliament till Tuesday after creating a ruckus and demanding an investigation by a Joint Parliamentary Committee into the alleged 2G spectrum scam and former telecom minister A Raja's role in it.
However, the demand for a JPC on the 2G spectrum sale was rejected by the Centre resulting in the Opposition MPs shouting slogans and disrupting the Question Hour in Lok Sabha.
While rejecting the Opposition's demand of an investigation by the JPC, Union Home Minister P Chidambaram pointed out that the CAG report would go to the Public Accounts Committee where it would be discussed. He appealed to the BJP to let Parliament function.
2G scam: No JPC probe, CAG report on Tuesday
The Government will table the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report on 2G spectrum sale that indicts Raja on Tuesday. The CAG report blames Raja for causing a loss of Rs 1.76 lakh crore to the exchequer.
The Government has also ruled out a statement in Parliament from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Raja's resignation.
Raja resigned as the telecom minister on Sunday night following sustained pressure from the Opposition. He submitted his resignation to the Prime Minister.
